Volvo S40 (04 - 12)

A lot of Irish people bought one of these. That is understandable because it was a prestige name for reasonable money. The underpinnings of the S40 are similar to that of the popular Ford Focus so it feels well planted and solid on the road, but make no mistake, with the quality of the interior and the levels of standard kit you’ll know you’re in a Volvo. There’s lots of space in the front of the cabin, it can hold up to five and the boot is a reasonable size. The rear seats can fold down to create more storage space if needs be. On the road, this will come as a pleasant surprise, as the S40 feels agile and composed. For new Volvo owners, this is definitely a good starting point. The ride quality is supple and there is a solid feel to it all the way through.
